Brianna was born in Calgary, Alberta to Kate and Vince Johnston; a Teacher’s Learning Assistant and a Computer Programmer, respectively.

At a very young age, Brianna became entranced by all of the performing arts – making faces in the mirror to learn how different emotions looked, dancing in the family living room, and spending hours singing “Jolly Holiday” from Mary Poppins in order to learn how to imitate the voices. In response to this, at the age of 5, Brianna’s parents enrolled her in her first drama camp, through Calgary Young People’s Theatre, and shortly afterwards she started acting in school productions as well.

Directly after finishing High School, Brianna enrolled in the Theatre Program at Mount Royal University and graduated in May of 2013 with a Diploma in Theatre Performance. Since then, she has been working professionally as an emerging artist in Calgary, and across Alberta.

Currently she is an Artist in Residence at Trickster Theatre where, using the foundations of Physical Theatre and Clowning, the company works with grade school students to create original pieces of theatre each week. She has also worked as the company’s Program Manager, on such tasks as Residency Planning and Design, Office Management, Archiving, and Process Development, among other things.Brianna Johnston4

Brianna is a Certified Fight Instructor and a Registered Fight Director through the Academy of Fight Directors of Canada. During the organization’s 2014 Nationals workshop, she was honoured to receive the Paddy Crean Award.
